Plan for a Safe Trip This Christmas

Whilst you cannot help just plain bad luck, many of these vehicles have mechanical failures that could have been avoided if the owner had planned ahead and carried out a few tasks before leaving home.

Several weeks before your journey, have your vehicle serviced. This allows plenty of time for repairs if your mechanic does find any issues with your vehicle.

Many people leave it until just prior to Christmas to have their vehicle checked, but do not realise that at this time most workshops are extremely busy and most auto part suppliers are shutting down for the Christmas break.

Before you leave for your holiday, check under the bonnet that all fluid levels are okay, check your tyre pressures (including the spare tyre), check your luggage is secure. Always ensure you are carrying sufficient drinking water – it can be a long, hot wait until Roadside Assist or a tow truck come to your rescue if the worst happens.
